Holly Harmon, LICSW
Founder & Clinician
Eating Disorder Services
I have been working in the field of eating disorders for 15 years. I am a 2005 graduate from UMass Lowell with a major in psychology and a 2009 graduate from Boston University with my Masters in Social Work. I am committed to helping you find your path to recovery.
My professional experience has included working at Walden Behavioral Care in their inpatient, residential and outpatient programs. I spent two years working at the Multi-service Eating Disorders Association (MEDA) as their Director of Education and Outreach. Most recently, I have worked closely with Dr. James Greenblatt as the Clinical Director of his private practice, Comprehensive Psychiatric Resources, in Waltham, MA.
I believe in RECOVERY. I want to help you work through areas of your life that are holding you back from achieving your goals. In order for therapy to be effective it is important to create a safe space where you feel comfortable to talk and explore your feelings. I will work hard to ensure safety and trust. Typically, it will take a client a few sessions to decide whether this therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit. If at any time you have feedback for me to incorporate into our sessions I encourage you to share your thoughts. If after a few sessions you feel that this is not a good fit for you I will provide referrals to help you find a new therapist to help you work towards your goals.
SUPERVISION AND PUBLIC SPEAKING
Holly is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and offer clinical supervision to new Social Workers in the field of eating disorders. She has a passion for teaching and find clinical supervision to be an important piece of professional development. She prides herself in being understanding and open minded. The supervision sessions will be structured to address any current clinical cases you may be working with as well as looking at case studies relevant to your field and interests.
PUBLIC SPEAKING
Public speaking is something that Holly has grown to love over the years. She first began public speaking in my undergraduate studies at UMass Lowell. She believes that creating awareness about eating disorders and the treatment of eating disorders can be life changing for those who are faced with an active eating disorder and do not know what resources are available to them. She has presented clinical trainings as well as more casual lectures at colleges and health centers. If you are interested in either a professional training or educational lecture please contact her to discuss details further.
YOGA
Holly first found her way to the yoga mat in the summer of 2005 while working at Walden Behavioral Care’s inpatient treatment program for eating disorders. She was humbled to see people in great pain finding solace in the yoga practice. She began to play around with her own practice, enjoying the space it gave her to feel strong in her body and recently opened her own studio, Mindful Body Yoga, in Andover. Her goal for each class that she teaches is to bring awareness of ourselves, how we stand and how we speak off our mats and into the world.
