A Note From Holly

Each day that I walk into work, whether I am in comfy clothes ready to practice mindfulness through yoga and meditation or Iā€™m carrying 5 bags filled with books, snacks and to-do lists, I am humbled by the human experience of listening. Sitting with clients and helping them identify where they are struggling right now is only the beginning of the therapeutic journey.

As far back as I can remember, I have always enjoyed learning and listening to others share their stories that have brought them to where they are today. My grandparents in particular, filled me with curiosity about the world and how people find peace in their day to day lives. Throughout my teenage years I felt stunted by anxiety and the way I perceived my body and outward appearance. None of that seemed to align with the passion that lived inside of me and as the years went on I looked for ways to make peace with myself, exactly as I am.

Working through my eating disorder was the first step. As I did this I was also forced to face my anxiety and stop using my outward perception of myself to keep my anxiety contained. The interventions that were most helpful for me included CBT, yoga and general self compassion.

Mindful Body Therapy and Wellness was brought to life after I completed the training to become a yoga teacher in 2017. I graduated from Boston University in 2009 with my Masters in Social Work and had been working in the field of eating disorders since 2005. Through yoga and my clinical training I saw the need to blend these two passions. Over the past 5 years I have been able to expand the private practice and bring on more clinicians who also strive to help clients heal through the mind ā€“ body connection.

Thank you for visiting our virtual space, we look forward to meeting you.

Our Collective Approach

Mindful Body Therapy and Wellness is a collective of like-minded clinicians. While we all come with our own personal and professional experiences, and each have our own specialties that make us unique to each other, as a practice, we all value the therapeutic relationship above all else. What is most important to us is that you feel comfortable, safe, seen and heard, regardless of how long it might take for you to get there. We also value feedback- we love to hear from you if something does not feel right, or if a certain approach is not supporting your goals. We each come to the therapeutic space with empathy, an open mind, and a gentle heart. Outside of that, when you come to therapy at Mindful Body, you can expect validation, directness, some gentle challenging when needed, and a healthy amount of humor.

And finally, we want to express our utmost gratitude to you for not only choosing us as your guides, but for allowing yourselves to be vulnerable and for sharing parts of yourself with us that you might not share with anyone else. It is always an awe-inspiring experience and we appreciate you all, always.
